Privacy and cookies policy

This page sets out our policy on the privacy of the individual. We take your privacy seriously and information will be used in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.

1. Your consent
Your use of this website signifies your consent to us collecting and using personal data about you, as specified below in accordance with this policy statement. Should we choose to change these terms for any reason, the changes will be posted here so that you are always kept informed about the collection and use of your personal information, and when we disclose it.

2. Information we collect about you and how we use it
We collect information about you when you visit the website and some other sites accessible from the website.

We will use personal information collected about you for administering the Whitbread Pension Fund and your pension.

We may use personal information collected about you to help us develop the layout of our website to ensure that our site is as useful as possible.

3. Disclosure policy
We reserve the right to access and disclose individually identifiable information to enable us to comply with applicable laws and lawful government requests to operate its systems and to protect itself or its users.

4. What are cookies and what do we do with them?

Cookies are small text files which are stored on your computer’s hard drive when you use certain websites. They contain data on your use of the site, and this is then used for a variety of purposes, e.g. making your next visit easier and more tailored to your needs and/or providing the site’s owners with information about visitor numbers. Shopping sites often use cookies to ‘remember’ who you are and to show you what you viewed previously.

When you log into a website, your details may be stored temporarily in a cookie so that you remain logged in as you move from one page to the next. When you leave the site, the data is deleted (unless you choose to ‘be remembered’). This means that anyone else using your computer won’t be able to gain access to your account by simply going to the site.

An important point to note is that many websites require cookies to function properly, so disallowing them (by changing a setting in your browser) is not generally recommended.

Use of cookies by this website

A cookie is created and stored when you log into this website. The employee number you enter is remembered as you move from one part of the site to the next, though for security reasons you will be asked to enter certain details again, e.g. your date of birth. The cookie data is deleted when you close the browser that you are using to view the site.

A Google Analytics tracking cookie is also used to collect general information about how our website is being used. All information collected in this is anonymous.
